The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has officially confirmed that Castmog Ladies have been relegated from the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership after failing to meet the league’s mandatory registration and licensing requirements, www.aclsports.com reports.

The decision was announced on Monday 24 November 2025, through a press release by NWFL Media Director Samuel Ahmadu. Castmog Ladies were among three Premiership clubs previously warned to complete all licensing requirements. Despite reminders, they missed the deadline, resulting in their relegation.

NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, emphasised the importance of compliance to maintain the league’s integrity.

“Ensuring all clubs meet registration and licensing obligations is essential for a credible and competitive league,” Shabi said. “We are committed to upholding professional standards and transparency as we prepare for the season.”

The NWFL Secretariat has adjusted the league to run with 19 teams. Clubs that were scheduled to play Castmog Ladies, including Rivers Angels in the opening round, will now have a bye.

Season action begins on Wednesday 26 November 2025, as NWFL officials confirm that all clubs except Castmog Ladies met the registration requirements.
