Remo Stars duo of Alex Oyowah and Haruna Hadi have expressed optimism ahead of the side’s CAF Champions League first round first-leg clash against US Zilimadjou on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Sky Blue Stars will play host to the Comoros champions at the MKO Sports Arena in Abeokuta in the first leg of the tie before the return leg at the same venue next Friday.

In an exclusive chat with ACLSports, the two midfielders discussed the team’s readiness to take a step further on the continent this time around.

“We are absolutely confident that we can get the job done,” Hadi said. “I have belief in my teammates, and I also have belief in myself. So, the spirits are high, and we know we can do it, and we are going to do it.”

On his part, Oyowah said, “Well, it is true that Remo Stars have not progressed beyond the first round before, but this time around, it will be a different appearance. We are going to put all our efforts into this first round tie.”

Both midfielders featured at the last CHAN tournament in East Africa, with Alex Oyowah winning the Man of the Match award against Congo in the last group game in Dar es Salaam. Although Nigeria crashed out at the group stages, Hadi believes that his international experience will come in handy against the Comoros side.

“The experience would help. Experience is the best teacher; of course, it will give me a lot of confidence going into this match. With the support of the team, I am sure that we are going to come out victorious,” Hadi concluded.

The duo are expected to play a key role against US Zilimadjou over two legs. Sunday’s first leg game will kick-off by 4pm.
