Kwara United midfielder, Toyeeb Gidado, has declared that his side will make life difficult for Asante Kotoko in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round tie, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Harmony Boys, after a narrow 4-3 loss in the first leg in Accra, will play host to the Porcupines at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, needing a win better than the initial outcome to progress. The game has been scheduled for 4pm on Sunday, 28th September 2025.
In a chat with ACLSports ahead of the game, Gidado lamented the result they got from the first leg, before going on to state the readiness of the side to punish the Ghanaians in the game on Sunday.
“I am a bit disappointed,” Gidado reflected on the first-leg result. “I feel like we could have gotten away with more, probably a draw or something better. We managed to have just one goal deficit, which is 4-3. I am happy with the efforts of my teammates, the coach, and everyone.
“We just have to focus on how we can get better result in Abeokuta to progress. We will just correct our errors during set-pieces ahead of the second leg, play more on the front foot, and make life difficult for Asante Kototo as well as punish them,” the former Ikorodu City midfielder added.
The diminutive midfielder also spoke about the need to have the fans support them, while they [the players] give their best on the pitch, as they look to get to the next round of the qualifying round.
“Well, we will miss the fans and have many fans behind us[Ilorin], but we will have a few [here in Abeokuta]. Although I understand that the Kwara State Sports Commission is trying to mobilize some fans to come support us, that should be enough. We just have to give our best on the pitch and get a good result to move to the next round,” Gidado concluded.
Kwara United, who are one of Nigeria’s representatives on the continent, will be looking to join Remo Stars in the second preliminary round on the continent.
