Nigerian sprinter Tima Godbless delivered a standout performance at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, claiming bronze in a highly competitive women’s 100m final, www.aclsports.com reports.
Godbless, who finished eighth in 2024, showed marked improvement by clocking 11.18s (-1.4) to secure third place, edging out Anthaya Charlton (Bahamas) by a razor-thin margin of 0.006 seconds.
The race was won by Samirah Moody (USA) in 11.14s, narrowly ahead of compatriot JaMeesia Ford, who was awarded the same time.
Godbless’s podium finish was the highlight for the LSU women’s team on the day and a testament to her steady progress and resilience on the collegiate sprinting stage.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 400m final, fellow Nigerian Ella Onojuvwevwo, ran her second-fastest career time, finishing fourth in 50.57s, just 0.06 seconds shy of a podium finish. She was closing fast on Rosey Effiong (USA), who held on for bronze in 50.51s.
The race was won in spectacular fashion by Aaliyah Butler, who blazed to a personal best of 49.26s, followed by her Georgia teammate Dejanea Oakley, also with a PB of 49.65s.
Despite narrowly missing out on a medal, Onojuvwevwo’s performance marks a significant leap forward from last season. Earlier this year, she claimed silver at the SEC Championships, underscoring her rise as one of the top quarter-milers in collegiate athletics.
