Bosso names 20 Flying Eagles for African Games campaign

Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso has rolled out his list of twenty players to prosecute the forthcoming 13th African Games in Ghana.

Nigeria Under 20 head Coach Isah Ladan Bosso has named his 20-man squad for the Flying Eagles’ participation in this month’s 13th African Games Men’s Football event holding in Ghana, www.aclsports.com reports.

Bosso, the eternal coach of the Flying Eagles has listed captain Daniel Bameyi of Yum Yum FC, Enyimba midfield duo Chibueze Izuogu and Mavlon forward Charles Agada, fresh from the recently concluded Viareggio Cup in his final squad.

Also selected by Bosso are Water FC goalkeeper Nathaniel Nwosu, Tudun Wada United prized asset Rabiu Abdullahi and Ibrahim Olalekan of Central Football Academy among others.

There was no place for Golden Eaglets stars Yahaya Lawali and Emmanuel Michael, the latter ruled out due to injury.

At the African Games, Nigeria will contend with Uganda, South Sudan, Senegal and Tunisia in Group B of the men’s football event starting on Friday, March 8, 2024, with the Nigeria squad scheduled to depart from Abuja on Tuesday. Matches will take place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.

Hosts Ghana, Congo, Benin Republic and The Gambia are the teams in Group A, with the Accra Sports Stadium as venue. Matches in this group start as from Saturday, March 9, 2024.

Nigeria emerged runners-up of the men’s football event of the 12th African Games held in Rabat, Morocco in October 2019, losing to Burkina Faso in the final, a record Bosso and his Flying Eagles wards will be looking to better in Ghana.

Goalkeepers: Nathaniel Nwosu, Clinton Ezekiel, Samuel James

Defenders: Daniel Bameyi, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Oladapo Akintola, Godwin Sampson, Haruna Aliyu, Rabiu Abdullahi

Midfielders: Daniel Daga, Favour Izuogu, Auwal Ibrahim, Yinka Oladunjoye, Sulaiman Idris

Forwards: Kehinde Ibrahim, Charles Agada, Nasir Muhammed, Sunday Joseph, Olalekan Ibrahim, Sadiq Isiyaka
