Washington Spirit forward, Francisca Ordega expressed delight at the Super Falcons Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) win in Ghana after the opening day loss to South Africa.

After winning her second woman of the match award at the just concluded 2018 AWCON in the final against Banyana Banyana of South Africa, the Super Falcons forward said: “I feel great and excited.

“The last one I got was in 2014 and last two years I didn’t win any award so I said to myself Franny you’re among the top strikers in this tournament you can’t just come without anything so I took it upon myself and as you can see I’ve really improved my game,” she said all smiles.

Although the Super Falcons clinched a record 9th AWCON title in Ghana, Ordega revealed that the 2018 AWCON is one of her toughest but expressed delight that the team was able to prove doubters and naysayers wrong.

“We lost the first game against South Africa and everyone was already writing us off but I’m so glad we came back to prove people wrong that we can still be the Nigeria everyone knows.”
