Nigeria women basketball team, D’Tigress defeated Angola 85-65 to qualify for the quarterfinal of the ongoing FIBA Afrobasket Women in Yaounde, Cameroon.

D’Tigress began their title defence with a hard fought victory against Mozambique and have now followed it through with a convincing 20 point win over Angola to secure a place in the last eight.

Unlike we’ve seen in previous games, this time, Coach Otis Hughley’s girls got out of the block immediately after tip-off racing into a 31-18 lead over Angola at the end of Q1. It was the same story in the second quarter as D’Tigress extended their Q1 lead by an extra 11 points to lead 51-28 at half time.

D’Tigress however cooled off with the tempo in the second half but did enough to emerge winners by 20 points.
