The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the appointment of Ghanaian referee Daniel Ayi Laryea as the centre referee to handle Wednesday’s AFCON 2025 semifinal game between Nigeria and Morocco in Rabat, www.aclsports.com reports.
The match, dubbed the clash of titans, between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the tournament hosts will be staged at the magnificent Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
In the other referee’s appointment for the Nigeria/Morocco clash, South African Zakhele Siwela and Souru Phatsoane (Sierra Leone) will serve as first and second assistants to Laryea. Meanwhile, Arsenio Marigule from Mozambique and Samuel Uwikunda are the third assistant and fourth official, respectively.
In the VAR room, Abongile Tom of South Africa will serve as the head, and he will be assisted by Haythem Guirat (Tunisia) and Stephen Yiembe (Kenya). Ethiopia’s Lidya Abebe is the referee assessor for the game.
Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles, who will be without skipper Wilfred Ndidi due to suspension, will be hoping to reach a second successive AFCON final, while the hosts are chasing a first AFCON triumph in 50 years.
Wednesday’s semifinal clash will be staged at the 69,000-capacity Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. Kick-off for the game is by 9pm (local time/Nigerian time).
