The Botswana Wrestling Federation will miss out on the 2018 African Wrestling Championships, aclsports.com has confirmed.

The opening ceremony for the championships is scheduled for February 7th at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Centre in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

The President of Botswana Wrestling Federation, Moagi Sharp attributed the miss to paucity of funds in his country.

In a chat with aclsports.com, Sharp said, “We could not send the team due to budgetary constraints”.

He commended Daniel Igali, President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation for his doggedness in ensuring Sub Sahara Africa get to host the African Championships after a long period.

“Igali is representing us (Sub Sahara Africa) well and he has our support in building Wrestling in this region”, he said.

Sharp participated in the election of Fouad Meskout as the President UWW – Africa in Eljadida, Morocco.
