Three matches were played as match day six of the 2018 NPFL season came to an end on Thursday.

2016 champions, Rangers International, made it two home wins on the bounce, after a narrow 1-0 win over Rivers United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu.

Kevin Itoya scored the decisive goal in the second half, following a brilliant exchange of passes between him and Godwin Aguda.

It was Itoya’s first goal of the season, and it was enough to earn the Flying Antelopes their third win of the season.

A deserved victory for Gbenga Ogunbote’s side, who dominated the encounter, but were made to wait for that elusive goal despite creating the better chances.

Itoya was guilty of missing some glittering chances earlier on, before making amends with that goal just before the hour mark.

That result means Rangers are up to eighth on the log, on nine points, level with Enyimba, who are ahead in seventh thanks to their superior goal advantage.

For Rivers United, their third consecutive loss sees them drop to 16th on seven points, just a point above relegation.

Up next for these two,  Rangers are on the road, as they take on Abia Warriors in Aba, while the Pride of Rivers, Rivers United, host their newly promoted neighbors, Go Round FC, in what’s a local derby in Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara, John Obuh and his Kwara United side also celebrated a second successive home win, as they defeated Lobi Stars by 1-0, thanks to a Stephen Alfred strike.

And in Omoku, Rivers State, newly promoted outfit, Go Round FC beat Nasarawa United 2-0, courtesy of goals from Adeseun Adelani and Shedrack Oghali, while the equaliser from Opeyemi Saheed, for the visitors, turned out nothing but a consolation.
