Handball: Nigeria begin W/Cup qualifier with a defeat

Nigeria got their World Cup qualifying campaign off to a poor start after they lost to Angola 16-29 in Libreville on Wednesday. It was Nigeria’s first match and the Fennec foxes’s first win at the Le Palais des Sports de Libreville in Gabon.

The Fennec foxes took their chances in the first 30 minutes of the game 13-5 points before sealing the victory with 19 points margin 29-16 points.

Nigeria sits comfortably on the bottom with a goal difference of -13 points. Other matches played on Wednesday, Algeria beat Cameroon by 31- 23 points while Morocco lost to Egypt 28-33 points.

Nigeria on Thursday face Egypt by 5pm while other matches are Cameroon versus Tunisia, Algeria versus Gabon and DR Congo versus Angola
