Nigeria’s only Gold medallist at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships, Lauritta Onye has appealed to corporate bodies in the country to assist her in the quest to attend international tournaments in 2018.

The World Champion did not attend any African or international Championships in 2017. Onye who won a gold medal at the 2016 Paralympics Games told aclsports.com in a telephone conversation that she’s sad not competing in any competitive international events.

“Last year, I didn’t attend a tournament in Italy, I was missing in France and the most painful one was the World championship in London where Tunisia’s Rima Abdelli won the F40 shot put class” she said.

“Imagine someone like me who has represented Nigeria at the highest level is not receiving salary. Government cannot do it alone anymore. The corporate bodies in Nigeria must help in making sure our dreams are achieved”.
