Basketball: Calls for support for Ajanah Championship

A clarion call has been made to individuals and corporate organisations to support the annual Ajanah basketball championship for Local Goverment Areas in Kogi State.

The chairman of the organising committee of the competition Justice Siaka Usman of the customary court of appeal Lokoja made the call at the opening ceremony of the championship at Okene.

Justice Siaka  who said the championship this year was the tenth edition, commended the sponsor and Chief judge  of Kogi  state, justice Nasiru Ajanah for  his love and commitment  to the promotion  of  basketball  in the state.

Also speaking, the Member representing Ilene One Constituency in the state house of Assembly, Alhaji Law Ahmed described the competition as one of the best ways to keep the  youths off the streets and  commended justice  Nasiru  Ajanah for  the initiative.

In a remark, former captain of Nigeria’s basketball National team, Olumide Oyedeji enjoined other Nigerian’s to emulate the good example of the state Chief judge to promote the game of basketball and other sports.

The state Chief Justice, Justice Nasiru Ajanah performed the jump ball procedure to commence the championship which has twelve participating local governments in the state.
