8 home based players dropped by D’Tigers

Coach of the senior men’s national team , D’Tigers, Alex Nwora has trimmed the number of home based players to 6 in camp.

On August 22, Nigeria basketball federation invited 14 home based players to camp while 10 foreign pros were later invited bringing it to a 24-man provisional list in preparation for the Afrobasket championship this month.

Consequently, 8 home based players have been sent back to their clubs while the 16 others will continue their preparation at the indoor sports hall, National Stadium, Surulere.

The 8 players who have been sent back to their respective clubs are  Eli Abraham (Kano Pillars), Gombe Bulls duo of Onyeka Okeke and Yakubu Sylvanus, Echoibi Victor (Mark Mentors), Joel Ejigba (Civil Defense),  David Godwin, Mojuba Oyeleye both of Kwara Falcons and Ibrahim Olajuwon (Lagos Warriors).

Other 6 home based players left in camp include Mark Mentors Musa Usman, Rivers Hoopers Victor Anthony, Azuoma Dike and Abdul Yahaya (Kano Pillars), Timothy Mudiaga (Hoops& Read) and Chukwudaalu Egbejiogwu (Raptors Basketball Club).

According to the media officer of the team, Sulieman Saleh, the final roster for the Afrobasket championship is expected to be released on Monday.

The 2017 FIBA Afrobasket Championship tips off on Friday 8 – 16 September in Tunisia and  Senegal.
