As many as six have booked their places in the last four, following impressive performances in their quarter final matches on Thursday.

In the men’s category, it was a clean sweep as four Egyptians will compete for the available two places in the final. Mohammed Reda started the day in brilliant fashion, seeing off compatriot, Abdel Omar Meguid 3-2 in a fascinating encounter.

Youssef Soliman followed that up with  a convincing 3-1 thrashing of fans favorite, Sebastian Bonmalais of France before Karim Ali Fathi easily dispatched countryman, Karim El Hammamy in straight sets.

In the men’s final game the day, involving yet another Egyptian duo,  top ranked Zahed Mohamed saw off the challenge of  Mazen Gamal, 11-7, 11-6, 11-3 to complete the men’s semifinal places.

In the women’s category, Salma Youssef defeated Taba Tanghavi Rafsanjani of Iran three sets to one, while another Egyptian, Menna Hammed thrashed Swiss number one,  Cindy Merlo , 3-0.

However, in the other women’s last eight games, the duo of Millie Tomlinson and Enora Villard ensured it wasn’t another all-Egyptian affair in the semifinal.

And Tomlinson seals a semifinal place in straight sets, she beats Nadeen Kotb 3-0. #CSO2018
