Juami scored a brace as second placed Real Sociedad enjoyed a comfortable evening against Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Anoeta.

The forward came off the bench to net twice, as Real Sociedad ultimately ended Atletico Madrid’s slim title hopes with a thumping 3-0 win.

William Jose’s 27th minute strike had the hosts 1-0 up following a solid performance at the break.

The home side would continue from where they stopped after the break, as Juami came off the bench to compound Atletico’s woes with two further goals.

First, the substitute latched on to brilliant pass from José to double his side’s advantage with a delightful flick past Jan Oblak in the 80th minute.

And in added time, Juami made sure Diego Simeone’s side left empty handed when he headed in a third for his side to seal a convincing win.

A superb performance from Imanol Alguacils’ men, who hand Atletico their fourth successive defeat on the road.

The result sees Real Sociedad stay 11th on the table, while Atletico retain their second position but now require a miracle to catch leaders, Barcelona, who are now a win away from clinching the league title.

Barca currently lead Atletico by 11 points with five games left to play.

Elsewhere, in an ill-tempered game at Estadio Mendizorroza, which saw as many as nine yellow cards issued, Girona defeated Alaves 2-1 thanks to two goals in the second from Aleix Garcia and Cristhian Stuani, who converted from the spot.
