Plateau Peacocks goalkeeper, Toyin Yusuf, Kwara Adorable Angels’ Wuraola Nuhu and 13 others have arrived the venue of the 2021 Africa Women’s Junior Nations Cup in Conakry, Guinea.

The National U20 Junior women’s team consisting of 15 players, two coaches and the technical director of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, Bala Mohammed left via Muritala Mohammed Airport (MMA) II on Thursday.

Nigeria will face host, Guinea, Algeria and Gambia in Group B which serves as a qualifier for the forthcoming Women’s Junior World Cup.

The head coach of the National U20 women’s side, Bukola Duru revealed that the team is ready to make the nation proud at the Nations Cup.

Duru said, “The girls are ready and with the level of training they have been getting, the team will ensure we make Nigeria proud.

“The board of the Handball Federation of Nigeria really supported us and I know we will reciprocate by doing well on the court and ensure we not just qualify for the World Championship but also win the cup.

“We had the experience of playing the defending champion of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League Safety Babes thrice and with the experience we have we can conquer Africa” Coach Duru concluded.

The championship will hold from the 19th to the 26th of February 2022 and Nigeria play the first match against Guinea.
