Nigeria’s Female Yellow Greens finished seventh at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, rounding off their campaign with a commanding 85-run victory over Sierra Leone, www.aclsports.com reports.

Lucky Piety crowned a superb tournament by scooping both the Best Batter and Player of the Tournament awards. She underlined her dominance in the final outing with a blistering 92 off 60 balls to set up Nigeria’s commanding total, before returning with the ball to claim 4/10 in a devastating spell. The all-round display also earned her the Player of the Match accolade.

The result was Nigeria’s second triumph over Sierra Leone in the qualifiers, having also beaten them earlier in the group stage. It came on the back of a narrow seven-run defeat to Kenya in the fifth-place playoff, where the Yellow Greens fell short chasing 106 despite contributions from Piety (35) and Victory Igbinedion (26).

With two wins and individual brilliance to celebrate, Nigeria closed the qualifiers with signs of progress, and the emergence of Piety as a rising star to build around in future competitions.
