The Technical Director of Handball Federation of Nigeria, Ferdinand Emeanaa said the players gave their best against Gabon.

Gabon defeated Nigeria 26-24 in their second match at the ongoing 2020 African Nations Cup in Tunisia.

Salami Rafiu led team were down by a goal margin 14-13 goals in the first half but could not make a comeback in the second half losing by a goal 12-11.

Emeanaa told www.aclsports.com that the players despite all odds performed very well and played to the instruction of the technical crew.

He said losing to Gabon was very painful adding that all the team needed was to keep pushing till the final whistle.

Emeanaa said, “The boys gave their best in that game against Gabon but could not get the expected result. The target was to attend the nation’s cup and eventually attend the 2021 World Cup but that dream has been stalled with the loss”.

“The team will now shift focus to the match against Libya and secure a win in order to have a better edge in the classification games”, he added.
