Former tennis world number one, Serena Williams has welcomed her first child with her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian on Friday.

The 23 Grand Slam champion gave birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds,13 ounces at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

The news was broken by WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd on Twitter, with the journalist writing: “Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well.”

Williams checked in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Palm Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, with an entire floor of the hospital being cleared in order to ensure the mother-to-be had the maximum amount of privacy.
