Premier League side Arsenal have rejected a £30m bid from Everton for Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi, reports www.aclsports.com. Iwobi who returned last week from holiday after an extended summer with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations faces stiffer competition for playing time at the Emirates following the acquisition of Nicolas Pepe this summer.

Everton have faced disappointments recently in the current transfer window after bids for Wilfred Zaha and Abdoulaye Doucoure were rejected by Crystal Palace and Watford respectively.

The Toffees have now earmarked 23-year old Iwobi as their next target but the Gunners have rejected the 30m pounds bid they submitted on Wednesday morning.

Everton are expected to make an improved bid of about 40m for the England-born Iwobi who has three years left on his current Arsenal deal.

Dear Alex Iwobi, please strive to remain at Arsenal. Those players are not better than you, stay competitive and remember your friend Iheanacho 👇. ALOHA https://t.co/3BpKe3bjhc

It is understood that Iwobi wants to stay at The Emirates but will leave if both clubs agree a fee.

Everton have just about 24 hours to complete the deal as the transfer window for Premier League clubs in England closes on Thursday evening.
