The NWFL has approved the return of Ekiti Queens to their home ground in Ado-Ekiti and lifted the fan ban on Ibom Angels’ home matches in Uyo following the completion and review of both sanctions, www.aclsports.com reports.
The decision follows a compliance review by the league, which had earlier penalised Ekiti Queens for infractions, including the assault of match officials, forcing the team to move their home games to Abeokuta.
On Monday, 23 March, the NWFL confirmed that the club has met all operational and safety requirements, clearing them to return to Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti from Matchday 12 of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season.
Ekiti Queens are expected to formally mark their return on Matchday 15 when they host South-West rivals Pacesetter Queens in front of their fans.
Elsewhere, the league has lifted the restriction that barred supporters from attending Ibom Angels’ home matches at Uyo Township Stadium. The sanction was imposed following crowd-related incidents and breaches of matchday conduct rules, which led to a series of games being played behind closed doors.
After assessing improvements in matchday organisation and security arrangements, the NWFL ruled that Ibom Angels have met the required standards to safely admit spectators again.
Fans will be allowed back into the stadium starting with the club’s Matchday 12 fixture against Adamawa Queens on Wednesday.
The NWFL maintained that it will continue to uphold high standards of professionalism, safety and discipline across its venues, while acknowledging both clubs for complying with the directives issued during their sanction periods.
