NWFL: Amazons keep Super 4 race alive with draw

With two rounds of matches to go in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), the race for the Super 4 to determine the league winner gets tougher as Nasarawa Amazons moved a step closer to defending their title.

The league defending champions earned a vital draw to stay top of Group B. Although the Lafia based team went ahead through Tarnum Dooshima in Akure, but Sunshine Queens drew level from the penalty spot to maintain second position in the group.

At the bottom of the table, Pelican Stars defeated Adamawa Queens by a lone goal as both teams battle to avoid the drop.

In Group B Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens and Delta Queens are still very much in the running for a place in the Super 4. And on Saturday evening, Bayelsa Queens edged closer to clinching a spot with a comprehensive win over Heartland Queens.

A brace from Reuben Charity and gaols from Anibaba Ayomide, Joy Bokiri and Olaiya Barakat  helped the Bayelsa based team to a 5-1 win over Heartland Queens. Delta Queens on the other hand played out a goalless draw in Lokoja against Confluence Queens to move within one point of the table toppers.
