The youth team of Remo Stars staged a second-half comeback to beat their counterparts from Lobi Stars 3-2 in the 2023 NPFLLaLigaU15Promises opener played at the Remo Stars Stadium on Thursday, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Junior Sky Blue Stars started the match poorly and had to chase the game after the break as Lobi Stars took a shock two-goal lead through Kenneth Mshi’s brace in the opening half.

Remo Stars, who are the defending champions of this tourney, took a different approach after the interval and it paid off with Emmanuel Adeboye, Opeoluwa Yusuf and Seun Ayoola with the goals.

Lobi Stars made a bright start to the game as they took the lead through Kenneth in the 20th minute and five minutes later the lad completed his brace to put his side in the ascendancy in the opening fixture.

However, Remo Stars would fight their way back into the game and five minutes after the break Emmanuel tucked away a penalty after Muiz Raheem was brought down in the box. Meanwhile, due to a plethora of injuries during the course of the game, an additional time of eight minutes was given and Coach Olawale Olowookere’s wards made their dominance count with some breathtaking goals to turn the encounter around.

Firstly, it was Opeoluwa who lobbed the onrushing keeper from inside the area before Seun scored the winner acrobatically much to the delight of the pocket of fans at the game.

The tournament will see all the youth sides of the 20 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs feature and will run until the 30th of April.

The Participating teams have been paired in their respective groups 📊
