After numerous disappointments in the past years despite his impressive record in several National team trials, Ifeanyi Christian becomes the first para athlete to be unveiled by Making of Champions track club (MoC).

“I feel special,’ he said. “I feel good, I feel great about it and it is a good thing by Making of Champions (MoC).”

Despite being the best athlete in the T46 100m, 200m, 400m categories at the 2018 Commonwealth Games trials in Abuja, Christian was not selected among the final list of athletes who made the team to Gold Coast. and you weren’t selected how did it make you feel

“Actually, Commonwealth Games wasn’t the first,’ Christian began on his ill-luck with National team trials. ‘My first National trials was in 2014, I won but I wasn’t selected for the tournament which was in Dubai but I didn’t give up. Then in 2015, the All Africa Games I also won the 400m event and I was dropped for the person who emerged second behind me. I actually felt sick but again, I didn’t give up so I kept pushing.

“Back to what happened at the 2018 Commonwealth Games trials, God gave me victory in the 100, 200 and 400m so my hopes were high that I would win Gold medal in Gold Coast, Australia. Unfortunately, they called the list and said my name was not there because I was new and all that. I felt bad but I didn’t give up. So I just kept praying, training and working hard.”

Well, fast forward to March 2019, Ifeanyi Christian has been signed up and unveiled by the biggest track club in the country where his talent will be harnessed to ensure he reaches the pinnacle of his career.

After all these heart breaks with National trials, will you still be interested in representing Nigeria? “Yes, actually,” he answered.

“I love my country, Nigeria. I just believe in everything there is a reason and a purpose that God knows why such thing has been happening and I believe this year is going to be a different year,” he concluded.
