Head coach of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club (MFM FC), Fidelis Ilechukwu revealed how his side over came a spirited Kwara United at the Agege Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Olukoya boys started the brighter of both sides  but couldn’t find a way through the Kwara United defence. Throughout the first half, Ilechukwu’s men huffed and puffed but couldn’t find the breakthrough with Kwara United looking the more dangerous with an effort hitting the crossbar and another forcing goalkeeper, Folarin Abayomi to a save.

“At half time I told them: you’re not playing for me you’re playing for yourself,” Ilechukwu said after the game. “In the first half what I saw was that they didn’t show seriousness. They didn’t pick throw-ins or loose balls and everybody was walking on the field.
“I told them, if we lose this game maybe 80% will go and MFM FC will look for new players or coach; we can’t keep putting ourselves under pressure. This game, I put them under pressure as well. It’s 1-1 today, the last time I was under pressure but today I put them under pressure and we won. So that is it,” he said.

In addition to that, he gave credit to the Harmony boys whoa according to him were better than his team. “This is not the best of our game and I made the players know this. First half was poor and the only difference in the second half was the goal but in terms of all round play Kwara United were better.”

Finally, when asked if he was happy about the players at his disposal and the quality in the team he said “I cannot be happy because I don’t have the best but we are doing out best,” adding that some of the players played in the NPFL for the first time on Wednesday evening
