Kogi state aim for top 10 at the National Sports Festival

The Chairman of Kogi State Sports Council, Hon. Isa Abdulmaliki Dolly says the state intends surpassing its previous record at the 2012 National Sports Festival in Lagos.

Isah said Kogi state is progressing in the area of sports development adding that the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been supportive.

He stated that the athletes were in camp for two week in order for the coaches to monitor the performance of the team.

“The athletes were camped for two weeks and this was to monitor the progress of their. I know with the kind of preparations, the state will rank among the top ten states at the 2018 National Sports Festival in Abuja. Others states sees Kogi state as a stumbling block at events.

“The governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has invested heavily in the sports sector, supported the state to the National Youth Games and National Championships. The wrestlers have been bringing glory to the state proud in the past and I am optimistic they will do so at the festival”, Dolly said

He charged athletes to be good ambassadors of the state by exhibiting the spirit of sportsmanship before, during and after the festival.
