Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Akwa Taekwondo athlete, Vivian Akakom (57kg) eventually made it to Taiwan but could not feature at the ongoing World University Games in Taipei.

The Nigeria University Games (NUGA) gold medalist over weighed in her weight class by 1kg due to flight delay and fatigue reaching the venue of the match hours before her bout.

Tuladhar Namrata from Nepal was given automatic victory in the round 32 of the feather weight.

Vivian, 300 level student of  the department of Science Education, was adjudged Most Valuable Player at the 2017 Nigeria University Games held at the University of Agriculture Makurdi, Benue State.

The media officer of Vivian, Iyke Nwokedi decried the inability of the fast rising star to fight.

Iyke who is also an EXCO of SWAN Anambra Chapter appealed to top officials of NUGA to ensure machineries are put in place for early departure of athletes.

He revealed that Vivian’s coach, Enujeko Obiajulu had been with her since secondary school days and hope to be the young star guide to stardom.
