Nigerian sprinter, Rosemary Chukwuma, continued her fine form with a 10.90s (+3.7m/s) run to finish second in the women’s 100m at the Ed Murphey Classic in Memphis, Tennessee, www.aclsports.com reports.
Chukwuma was narrowly edged by American McKenzie Long, who took the win in 10.88s, while Trinidad and Tobago’s Leah Bertrand settled for third in 11.00s.
Although the performance was aided by a strong tailwind, Chukwuma’s time is one of her fastest under any conditions this year and adds to what has been a standout 2025 season.
The 23-year-old has already secured qualification for the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, along side Favour Ofili and Tima Godbless in what is shaping up to be a formidable Nigerian sprint lineup.
Now competing professionally, Chukwuma’s form appears to be peaking at the right time, making her one of Nigeria’s standout contenders in the women’s 100m as the countdown to Tokyo gathers pace.
