Morocco international Hakim Ziyech has been named Ajax Amsterdam player of the year, for the third time in a row, following votes from the club’s fans.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who scored eight goals and delivered 21 passes in 35 games during the just-concluded Eredivisie season, becomes the first Ajax player to clinch the yearly accolade thrice back to back.

The Dutch topflight was prematurely concluded early this month after it was suspended for weeks in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Following a €40 million deal concluded last February, Ziyech will be joining Premier League giants Chelsea in July.
