Former Nigerian youth international and Liverpool forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, will continue his development at Bundesliga club, FSV Mainz 05, the Reds have confirmed.

www.Aclsports.com reports this much following an official statement from his parent club, Liverpool, late Tuesday.

“Liverpool can confirm Taiwo Awoniyi has joined FSV Mainz 05 on loan, ” the club said in the statement.

Taiwo Awoniyi has joined @Mainz05en on loan until the end of the season, subject to a completed medical and international clearance.

Subject to the 21-year-old Nigerian getting an international clearance and passing his medical, the club also confirmed Awoniyi will spend the 2019/2020 campaign at the Bundesliga outfit, who once had Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, in their payroll.

Awoniyi has been out on loan since he joined the Reds in the summer of 2015, two years after his brilliant outing for Nigeria at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

He spent last season on loan at KAA Gent and then, Royal Excel Mouscron, scoring a total of 14 goals in all competitions in Belgium.

The talented striker, who has also been had stints at another German side, FSV Frankfurt, and NEC Nijmegen in Holland, put pen to paper on a new contract in 2018, committing his long-term future to the European Champions.
