The North Zonal Representative of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, Honourable Matthew Kolawole on Thursday emerged speaker Kogi State House of Assembly. Kolawole is the 12th Speaker of the State House of Assembly representing Kabba Bunu constituency and has promised to give sports attention both at the state and national level.

He promised to use sports as a unifying factor to curb crime and social vices in the state.

On the issue of the upcoming National Championship tagged “Champion of Champions”, the newly elected speaker pledged to put up machineries that will make the event a success.

“Before now, National Championships were held in Lagos and Ibadan. This time around, the North Central will do everything humanly possible to make sure the tournament is held in Kogi.

“The National Secretariat has been notified and we expect that before the end of this week, letters are shared to respective states who are interested in the event. The North Central is ready to rediscover it’s magical touch in boxing,” Kolawole said.

Congratulating the speaker, the technical representative of the country’s boxing federation, David Amade, commended the House of Assembly members for believing in the boxing boss.

“Kolawole in the past sponsored boxers to Lagos for National event where the state won laurels and with such position I’m sure Kogi will witness the best of boxing events,” Amade said.
