The Godswill Akpabio stadium offered that best of actions as Akwa United demolished Kwara United 3-0 in a week five tie on Sunday.

Michael Ibe put Akwa 1-0 up on the 15th minute, after slotting from a very good cross from Ubong Friday.

Victor Mbaoma doubled their advantage seven minutes later, meeting a lovely pass from Cyril Olisema before rounding the goalkeeper to tuck home as the host went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

After the break, Friday put the game beyond Kwara’s reach, when he added a third for the home side, who were untouchable throughout the game.

The Aiteo Cup winners held on for the win, their fourth of the campaign and sees them draw level on points with champions, Plateau United.

However, Abdu Makaiba’s have leapfrogged the defending Champions, and sit atop the league, albeit thanks to their superior goal difference.

It was similar story in Kastina, where Kastina United ran Go Round FC ragged, after a 3-0 win.

Eric Dufegha, Joshua Agboola and Martins Ursule were the scorers on the day, as Kastina picked up their second win of the season.

For Go Round, it was a third loss of the season and sees them drop down the table and into relegation, as they occupy 18th position.

Meanwhile, the game between four-time league champions, Enyimba, and Rivers United, earlier scheduled for Sunday, will now be played on Monday at the Yakunu Gowon stadium on Port Harcourt.
