Defending Women league champions Rivers Angels on Thursday ended their participation at the NWPL Super Four in Benin with an underwhelming 0-0 draw with Bayelsa Queens.

Having been already eliminated from the competition on Tuesday and with Nasarawa Amazons and Delta Queens ending their tie in a stalemate, both Angels and Queens already know they were fighting for the third place slot.

Thursday’s game was decided under floodlights at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City as the other venues touted for both teams to play were not ready for the game.

Edwin Okon’s Angels dominated for most period of the contest but found a stumbling block in Bayelsa’s Super Falcons goalkeeper Alaba Jonathan.

Angels went closest to scoring midway through the second half but when they eventually beat Jonathan, defender Blessing Onoriode was on hand to make a goal line clearance.

The result means Angels finished bottom of the Super Four standings while Bayelsa Queens finished third and will go home with N1,000,000.

Nasarawa Amazons and Delta Queens who drew 2-2 on Thursday will face once again in the final of the Super Four on Friday at the Ogbemudia Stadium.

As part of activities lined up for the final day, there will be an exhibition match between Women Premier League sides Edo Queens and FC Robo Queens before Amazons and Delta Queens fight for the star prize of N5,000,000.
