A total of seventeen players out of the thirty on Nigeria’s provisional list for the forthcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia have arrived the Super Eagles’ training base in Uyo.

The players started arriving the Southern Nigerian city on Monday, the opening day of the training camp ahead of the mundial.

Six players were reported to be in camp as at Monday evening but their Le Meridien Hotel base burst into life on Tuesday with eleven more players joining in.

Leicester City stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfried Ndidi led the way on Tuesday with goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi also among those that arrived.

Las Palmas of Spain star Oghenekaro Etebo was the last to join in the evening after the Super Eagles B side engaged Atletico Madrid in a friendly at the Nest of Champions.

Members of the team were on hand at the Nest of Champions to cheer the B side in the 2-3 loss and repeatedly applauded some bright performances from the lads on showcase.

With the arrival of seventeen players and more being expected on Wednesday, the team will begin their comprehensive World Cup preparation in Uyo on Wednesday.

Nigeria face Congo Democratic Republic in a friendly in Port Harcourt on Monday, May 28 before leaving the country for a couple of friendly games in Europe, including a June 2 date with England.
