Engr. Musa Kida faction of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), will unveil a new sponsor for the National Division 1 and 2 leagues on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at a brief media ceremony holding in Lagos.

The National Division 1 and 2 leagues determine teams gaining promotion to the top division.

An excited Kida said that the deal will mark a new dawn for all stakeholders especially players and officials who he described as the major actors.

“This sponsorship agreement till date will be the biggest deal that has ever been signed at this level of our national league to cater for players in the lower divisions. We are used to gathering teams in a particular location for 1 week under the guise of playing Division 1 and 2 with players and respective clubs benefiting nothing at the end of this jamboree.”

“Under this new arrangement, the division will be targeted at grassroots players and rookies who are just at the developmental stage of the game with more games expected to be played,” he continued.

Kida assured that the federation is working round the clock to deliver on its promise of securing a better life for players plying their trades in the domestic league.

“If we have been able to pull off such feat for Division 1 and Division 2, there are bigger plans for the Premier League Division and the Zenith Bank sponsored Women’s League.”

You will recall that ACLSports reported  the National Division 1 and 2 in Ilorin https://aclsports.com/10488-2/ organised by the Tijani Umar-led faction last month.

ACLSports have been reliably informed that the lingering crisis in the NBBF is far from being over as the National Division 1 and 2 competition organised in March was not recognised by the Kida board causing them to organise theirs. Also, two different leagues organised by Tijani Umar-led faction and Musa Kida-led faction will be sponsored by the Kwese Premier Basketball League and a multi-national energy company respectively.
