Some wrestlers also expressed confidence ahead of the big event which begins next week in Gold Coast.

Team captain and six-time African Champion Amas Daniel said he is ready for the big challenge in Gold Coast.

“I am very much prepared for the Games. I have been training for the past two months and with God on my side, I’ll do well. I have been at the Commonwealth Games so I know what it takes to be a Commonwealth champion. It’s a different kettle of fish from other competitions like the African Championships.”

Commonwealth medallist, Sinivie Boltic is confident his experience at the Games will win him a gold medal. “I won a gold medal in 2010 and a bronze four years later. It’s my 16th year participating at the Commonwealth Games. I am assuring my fans that I’ll return with a gold medal.”

African Champion Blessing Oborududu said,”preparation has been very good. I am going for a gold medal.”

The officials going to the Games are: NWF technical director, Ohaike Damian; Joe Oziti, Victor Kodei, Purity Akoh and Secretary-General of NWF, Ahmed Abdullahi.
