Defending champions of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, Plateau United, are back where they belong, at the top of the league table.

Plateau narrowly defeated Enugu Rangers 1-0 in a rescheduled match day nine clash in Jos, on Wednesday.

Chizoba Amaefule scored the only goal of the game through a header, late in the second half to hand the champions a hard-fought win.

The result means Kennedy Boboye’s side, who still have a game in hand, move top of the league table on 18points, one ahead of northern rivals, Kano Pillars in second.

Meanwhile, in other rescheduled games also played today, Lobi Stars retuned to winning ways, after a 1-0 win over Akwa United in Makurdi.

The only goal of the game came courtesy of Austin Ogunye’s first half effort, as he latched onto a pass from Sanou.

It was Lobi’s first win since February 4, when they defeated Ifeanyi Ubah by the same scoreline at home.

They climb up to third on the table, while Akwa United drop down to fifth, but do still have a game in hand.

In Akure, Sunshine Stars ensured Lagos based Mountain of Fires and Miracles Ministries, MFM FC, left Ondo as they arrived, empty handed.

Sunshine defeated the Olukoya Boys 2-1, thanks to goals from Alimi Sikiru, and Omotayo Adegbogun.

Alimi gave the home side a first half lead, before Nojeem Akinyemi equalised for the visitors after the break.

Adegbogun scored the winner 12minutes from time to seal the win and all three points for the hosts.

Despite the result, Sunshine are 15th on the log , a point behind the away side, who occupy the 12th position.
